Deserted Mount Everest, many names and history of climbing

The first attempt to climb the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, was made in 1921 by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Howard Barry of the British Army. Especially in 1855, when the height of the mountain was discovered to be 8,040 meters, British and other European climbers began expeditions to conquer the mountain. Even though the real and special name of Everest from the beginning was Chomolungma, yes, it was known by more than one and a half dozen names including Devdhunga, Bhairavnath, Chari Lameni, Mitiguti, Third-Pole, The Goddess Mother of the Earth, Cha-Po-Lungma. Since Nepal was not allowed to climb Mt. Everest at that time, the British team first climbed Mt. Everest in 1921 after getting permission from the 13th Dalai Lama of Tibet in 1920. Thus, between 1921-38, Mount Everest was climbed twice and Rekhi (measurement) was done. Team member Dr. AM Callus died. In 2020, Nepal and China measured the height of Mount Everest by 86 centimeters. Now the height of Everest is 8848.86 meters.

After World War II, Nepal was open to climbing Mt. Everest. As a result, in 1949, a Swiss mountaineering team managed to climb the 7,123-meter-high Pyramid Mountains in the east of Nepal (Kanchenjunga region) via Sikkim for the first time. Soon after, in 1950-51, a British mountaineering team set out for Mount Everest via Nepal, but they too failed to reach the summit. Similarly, in 1952, the Swiss team tried to climb Mt. Everest twice in the same year from Nepal, but they too could not completely conquer Mt. Everest. Thus, looking at the history of climbing Mt. Everest, on May 29, 1953, after almost 30 years of effort, human success was achieved in climbing Mt. Everest.

It is worth mentioning that Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal and Edmund Percival Hillary of New Zealand (then New Zealand was under British rule) succeeded in climbing Mt. Everest for the first time that year. He was part of the British team.

In the history of about 67-68 years, many records have been set during the ascent of Everest. For example, Reinhold Messner of Italy is the first person to climb Mt. Everest alone. He was successful on May 19, 1980. Wang Fu Chou, Gompa and Chu Ying are the first Chinese to climb Mt. Everest from the north. They were successful in 1960. Junko Tabei became the first woman to climb Mt. Everest 22 years after her first human ascent. She succeeded on May 16, 1975.

Similarly, the first Nepali woman to climb Mt. Everest is Pasanglamu Sherpa and the woman who climbs Mt. He has climbed Mt. Everest eight times. Reinhold Messner and Peter Hubbler were the first to climb Mount Everest without oxygen. He died in May 1978. He had climbed Mt. Everest without oxygen on the 8th. Self who spends a lot of time on the summit of Everest. Babuchiri is a Sherpa.

Climbers have set many records on Mount Everest. Andrej and Maria from Yugoslavia have the opportunity to become the first married couple to set such a record. They successfully climbed Mt. Everest on October 7, 1990. Similarly, Tim McCartney Snape is an Australian citizen who does 'Sea to Summit' from the sea to the summit of Mount Everest. He achieved that success in 1990.

Today, the adventure sport of gaining fame in Mt. Everest and the adventure sport played for mental balance have been taken as a form of professional ascent rather than monotony and search for peace. A vivid example of this is the crowds during the ascent of Mt. Everest in May 2019, which many environmentalists have expressed concern over the fact that Mt. Everest will last forever.
