Nepal's self-esteem increased with the height of Mount Everest.

Kathmandu. The height of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, has increased by 86 cm to 8,848.86 meters. For the first time, Nepal has measured the height of Mount Everest with its own resources, means and manpower. This has also increased the respect and self-esteem of Nepal and Nepalis, said senior government ministers.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Kumar Gyawali and Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padmakumari Aryal said that the new height of Mount Everest was an unforgettable and glorious event for Nepal. "Not only has the height of Mount Everest been declared as Nepal's identity and pride, but Nepal has managed its own manpower and resources. This unforgettable and glorious moment from Nepali technicians has reached the height of Nepali technical capability. Congratulations to all involved," said Foreign Minister Gyawali .

He noted that with the announcement of the height of Mount Everest, official, scientific facts about Mount Everest were obtained by consensus. He added, "We all know that the northern side of Mount Everest is affiliated with the People's Republic of China. Its height also needed to be announced jointly for credibility.

Fortunately, the data processing started by the Department of Surveying and Mapping in Nepal has brought it to the point that the same facts have been accurately reflected in the survey conducted by Chinese friends and their data processing, which has now established facts and uniformity. ” Minister Gyawali thanked Minister Aryal for completing two important tasks this year from the Ministry of Land Management, the political and administrative map of Nepal and the measurement of the new height of Mount Everest.

Stating that Nepal's mountains are turning into black stone due to the risk of climate change, Minister Gyawali said that Nepal was taking up the issue with the concerned countries with special interest to protect the Himalayan region from such risks. He said that talks were held with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on various aspects of Nepal-China relations in connection with the program of declaring the joint height of Mt. Everest.

Nepal took about two years to measure the height. During Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal last year, the two countries agreed to declare the height of Mount Everest. Accordingly, the governments of Nepal and China today jointly announced an increase in the height of Mount Everest. Now the height of Everest will be eight thousand 848.86 meters.

Minister for Land Management Aryal said that in the 170-year history of measuring Everest, Nepal has completed the measurement of altitude by managing resources and mobilizing manpower. He said, "Addressing the curiosity about Mt. Everest, it has been announced through the Survey Department of the Ministry to maintain the same height in front of the world. The height of Mt. Everest has increased. From today, not only the height of Mt.

"While we are setting the world record for Mount Everest, those who until yesterday called Nepal a country of poverty and unemployment will now discuss our technology and capabilities," he said, adding that it was a happy moment for Nepalis. Prakash Joshi, Director General of the Department of Surveying and Mapping, said that measuring the height of Mount Everest with one's own resources and manpower has made Nepal's pride like Mount Everest in the world.

On behalf of Nepal, Foreign Minister Gyawali and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Yi jointly unveiled the new height of Mount Everest through virtual media. On the occasion, congratulatory messages of the Presidents of both the countries were read out. On behalf of Nepal, Foreign Minister Gyawali read out a message from President Vidyadevi Bhandari.

The Ministry of Land Management, Department of Surveying and Mapping has measured the height of Everest. The department had completed the measurement of Everest in a period of two years at a cost of Rs. 130 million. This is the first time that Nepal has measured the height of Mt. On the occasion, those involved in measuring the height of Everest were honored.

Thus measured height.

A team of Rabin Karki, Surveyor Suraj Singh Bhandari and Amin Yuvraj Dhital led by Khim Lal Gautam, Chief Officer (now Deputy Secretary) of the Survey Department, went to measure the height of Everest. The team was guided by Chiring Jangbu Sherpa's team.

According to the department, traditional methods of measuring the height of Mount Everest (plane measurement) and modern methods (GNSS) and terrestrial gravity survey have been adopted. Before starting the measurement, the department had invited scientists from India, China, USA, Italy and other countries to an international conference two years ago to discuss how to measure and the procedure was prepared based on the suggestions of the experts.

Earlier, in 1954, the then Survey of India had measured the height of Mount Everest and concluded that it was 8,848 meters. After that, different bodies measured the height at different times and found different heights, but it was not officially recognized. In 1954, India and in 1975, China measured the height of Mount Everest. It was measured by Italy in 1987, 1992 and 2004, and by the United States in 1989. Similarly, in 2005, China again and in 2010, Italy measured the height of Mount Everest.

There are three methods of measuring the height of Mt. Everest under direct measurement. Similarly, height is also measured by the 'triangulation' method. Accordingly, the height is measured by finding its angle on the basis of a certain point and by making the angle of other points on the same basis. The third method is to base gravity. Height is also measured by GPS system. In 2005, China used the same method to measure the height of Mount Everest.
