Climbing the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, has been a matter of great prestige for mountaineers around the world. Hundreds of foreign climbers come to Nepal every season to climb Mt. Everest at great risk.
We have prepared this article to satisfy the curiosity of many Nepalis about how to climb Mt. Everest. From day one, we have tried to provide information about the time and place to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Day 1: Fakding hiding from Kathmandu
Fakding can be reached after a three-hour flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport at an altitude of 2,800 meters. There are two-star hotels or lodges in Fakding and you can start your journey by kissing Mt. Everest on the first day.
Day 2 and 3 : Namche from Fakding
Climbers should start walking to Namche Bazaar after having breakfast in Fakding. Namche Bazaar, located at an altitude of 3,440 meters, is the gateway to the Everest Peak and Everest National Park. There is food and snacks along the way while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Himalayan range. After walking for about 6 hours, you can reach Namche Bazaar, which is 11 kilometers away from Fakding. Most of the tourists stay in Namche for two nights. On the second day, tourists go to the highest view of the Everest Hotel.
The settlement of Namche Bazaar also makes the tourist or climber accustomed to the environment of Everest.
Day 4: From Namche to Tengboche
After lunch at Namche Bazaar, you can go for a walk to Tengboche. Tengboche, 11 kilometers from Namche, is a 5-hour walk away. At an altitude of 3,860 meters, Tengboche offers a panoramic view of Mount Everest, Amadablum, Lhotse, Nuptse and other mountains. The Tengboche Gumba here has also become a tourist attraction. Rest in Tengboche for one night and prepare for a trip to Dingboche for the next day.
Day 5: Tengboche to Dingboche
On the fifth day, the climbers can have lunch at Tengboche and go on a trek to Dingboche. Dingboche, 12 kilometers away, is a 5-hour walk from Tengboche. Dingboche Sherpa village is located at an altitude of 4,250 meters. When Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary climbed Mt. Everest in 1953, the village of Dingboche became their base camp. Due to the rise in global temperature in the last few years, the village has not received much snow. You have to stay here for one night.
Day 6 and 7 : Lobuche from Dingboche
Everest climbers set out for Lobuche after having lunch at Dingboche. In 5 hours, a Sherpa village called Lobuche at an altitude of 4,930 meters can be reached at a distance of 12 kilometers from Dingboche. This village is located in the lap of Lobuche Himal at an altitude of 6,119 meters. Some climbers also climb Lobuche to prepare for the Everest ascent.
Day 8: Everest Base Camp from Lobuche
On the eighth day, you can have lunch at Lobuche and leave for the Everest base camp. The base camp, which is 15 kilometers away, can be reached in 8 hours from Lobuche. The base camp is the departure point of Mount Everest and the dream camp for Everest climbers. Around 2,000 people can be seen gathering here during the spring season. Climbers rest here for 5 to 6 days and then the real journey begins.
Camp One (6050 m)
The campaign to kiss the highest peak from the base camp of Everest starts from Camp One. Due to the Khumbu avalanche, Camp One is very dangerous for climbers.
Camp Two (6500 m)
Due to the winding road, Camp Two is a bit easier for climbers. Climbers usually rest for two nights in a camp connected to the southern part of Mount Everest.
Camp Three (7200 m)
Camp Three is a relaxing place for climbers. Camp Three, located on a plain in front of Lhotse Himal, is considered to be very difficult for climbers. Climbers must use tools such as crampons and ice axles to reach Camp Three.
Camp Four (South Cole) (7900 m)
Sherpas gather oxygen and other tools for the climbers at Camp Four. As there is no camp above here, this is the last camp for the last climb of Everest. From here, it takes 16 to 18 hours to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Hillary Step
The 8,790-meter-high Hillary Step is named after Edmund Hillary. This place was very challenging till 2015. Although it is very difficult to cross due to the large rocks, after the 2015 earthquake, the big rocks were washed away and it has become easier for the climbers.
Mount Everest (Third Pole)
At 8,848.86 meters, it is the final destination for climbers. Climbers spend 5 to 10 minutes on the summit of Mount Everest. From the summit of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu and Makalu Himal can be seen up close. From here, the territory of Nepal and Tibet can be clearly seen. About 8,000 climbers and Sherpas have climbed Mt. Everest so far.
